The Assembly is the oldest demoparty in the world. It was created in 1992 by Rebels and Complex (two Amiiiiiiga demogroups) and by Future Crew (PC, of course). It’s being held every year – even TWICE a year now ? wow, didn’t know that – in Helsinki, Finland. Which is a beautiful country I recommend to visit. By the way, talking of beautiful countries, have a look at this holiday report by Pierre Terdiman (Zappy\/Holocaust)<\/a>, who went to Island once again. Be careful, I think that the beautiful girlfriend is not included in the travel.<\/p>\n

Well, I was saying that the Assembly still exists. Now it’s even organized by an association known as Assembly Organizing (clever name, guys), and around 5,000 people gather, including a lot of gamers and various other geeks. There’s still demosceners but it is not anymore the main point of the Assembly. To be honest it’s also because they widened their activities that they still exist and that they’re backed by big sponsors.<\/p>\n

So… what was my point… yes : the Assembly Summer 2008 starts tomorrow (31st, July) and you can see everything live on Assembly TV<\/a> and on demoscene.tv<\/a>. DTV is also shooting to make, I guess, good reports – the \u00ab\u00a0Temps R\u00e9el\u00a0\u00bb Breakpoint 2008 report wouldn’t have been the same at all without their help.<\/p>\n\n\n

La Assembly est la plus ancienne demoparty au monde. La premi\u00e8re a eu lieu en 1992 et \u00e9tait organis\u00e9e par Rebels et Complex (deux groupes Amiga) et par Future Crew (PC). \u00c7a a lieu tous les ans (voire deux fois par an maintenant ? mazette), \u00e0 Helsinki en… Finlande, oui bravo pour les trois qui connaissent leur g\u00e9ographie. Finlande qui est un bien beau pays et que je vous invite \u00e0 visiter un jour, d’ailleurs (pour la parenth\u00e8se). Tiens au passage en parlant de beaux pays allez faire un petit tour sur le petit album photos de vacances de Pierre Terdiman (Zappy\/Holocaust) en Islande<\/a>. Attention : je crois que la petite amie n’est pas fournie avec le voyage.<\/p>\n

Bref, je digresse, je digresse, et donc la Assembly existe toujours. Maintenant c’est organis\u00e9 par une association qui n’existe que pour \u00e7a, la Assembly Organizing, et \u00e7a rassemble environ 5000 personnes dont beaucoup de gamers et de geek quelconques. Il y a encore des demosceners mais vraiment ce n’est plus l’attrait principal de la Assembly, il faut dire que s’ils ont r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 survivre c’est aussi parce qu’ils se sont diversifi\u00e9s et qu’il y a de gros sponsors derri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n

Donc euh… je voulais dire quoi ? Ah oui, la Assembly Summer 2008 d\u00e9marre demain, le 31 juillet, et vous pouvez tout suivre en direct sur Assembly TV<\/a> et sur demoscene.tv<\/a> qui est m\u00eame sur place pour faire, je le pense, de bien beaux reportages (le reportage sur la Breakpoint 2008 n’aurait franchement pas \u00e9t\u00e9 pareil sans eux).
